The Reels
Like the traditional unit we still use reels but there function has been upgraded as it works along with your phone. Your phone along with the app scans the reel and you are immersed in the reels consent that includes:
- Space
- Destinations
- Wild life
- Underwater and more.
The units come with three (3) reels with content from National Geography. The App can be downloaded from your phones App store or Google Play. The sample reel which you are given contains only samples as the name implies and is meant to only get you off to a start out of the box.
If you need any of the packs mentioned above you will have to order those along with your View-Master Virtual Reality Starter Pack which is sold separately.There is lots of content jammed packed into each reel which is a good thing.
The headset
Looks really kid friendly and can work for adults as well. The preview reel that looks like a traditional reel does not go into the Viewmaster as you might assume but allows for you to load content once you scan the reel after setup.
How to set it up?
You will need to open and attach your phone which can be a Samsung,LG, Apple device or other unit much like any other VR headset that common today and you will need to have the accompanying app on your phone installed. From here you can load your demo reel or load fresh reels and once setting up and lunching you can close the view master and look through the eye piece section.
When you look at the demo reel that you can place on a surface things will come alive and you can look around which is very cool. It best to place the reel on a flat surface and stay a distance of about 10 inches or less, you can scroll through the digital icons and select the ones you want to experience.
You can pull the lever to zoom in on specific objects and get full 360 view of them, the kids will be able to view fun facts, games and much more and the View-Master Virtual Reality Starter Pack is a great leap forward from the very first model so long ago that really imersive.

If your device has a case on you will need to remove it in order for it to fit the view master with the top of your phone to the left for proper orientation.
